Jacques Herbin 1798 Ink – “Amethyste De L’Oural”

For the last five years, J. Herbin (now “Herbin”) has introduced a new 1670 ink over the summer.  1670 inks are known for their deep, rich colors and gold sheen.

This year, Herbin is introducing a new color and a new collection:  Jacques Herbin 1798 Ink.  The color chosen to inaugurated the collection is “Amethyste De L’Oural” – Ural Mountain Amethyst.  It is a velvety purple, with a silver shimmer.  Think – distant and unexplored mountains partially covered by a lustrous mist.  I thought the colors evoked Nicholas Roerich’s mountain landscapes of the Himalayas.

You can read all about Amethyste De L’Oural on the Herbin website.

The ink will not be available for sale until September 1, 2017.  However, I have three (3) 10ml bottle of this new ink that I will be raffling off to Rhodia Drive readers!  To enter, please comment on this blog post with your name, email and city/state.  I apologize – U.S. readers only.  I’ll draw the names of three lucky winners on Wednesday, August 16th.  Your ink will be mailed to you that week, so you will be one of the first people to enjoy it.

We will let everyone who who will be carrying the first batch of ink on Friday, September 1, 2017, so you can place your order!  I will include links for fans in Canada, the UK and France.

Ed Jelley prepared a video of the new ink.
