RD: Have digital devices and apps changed how people use notebooks?
AM: Our phones have become a major part of our lives. I think a lot of people still feel more confident having things in writing .
RD: What do you see as the future of notebooks?
AM: We are seeing a increase in sale of our Clairefontaine and Rhodia, In my store its the quality of the paper and unique design that attracts customer. Once they write with this paper they don’t want to use anything else.
RD: Why do some people continue to use paper in a digital world?
AM: I have noticed being in a college town writing in notebooks and fountain pens have almost become an art that a lot of younger people are discovering and enjoying the feel of something tangible.
RD: How do people “discover” paper and notebooks now that so many stationery and office supply stores have disappeared?
AM: I don’t know. Almost everyday we have people in our store buying Clairefontaine and Rhodia for the first time. You can see a recent newspaper article on Hinkson’s here!
