Rhodia Stack

Does this look like you? If so, I want you to know that you are not alone. From the mundane to the incredibly important, I know lots and lots of people that save their notebooks. Why do people hold on to them? I’m guessing each person would probably have a different reason but more often than not, I think it’s probably to look back down the mountain to see how far they’ve come.

Why do you keep your old notebooks?

  1. Hmm…partly, yes, it is to look back and see where I was and what was happening…(a list of Indonesian vocabulary words, directions to a friend’s house in another state…)… Sometimes I keep them because there is information I might need again or want to reference…Just yesterday, for example, I sought a snip of poetry from a Mexican poet that I know I wrote down in 2010…I sought those volumes and paged through until, voila!

  2. I use my 5 X 5’s for drawing and sketching designs on the go. I like to look back and see how they first began.
