Our definition of “normal” gets re-written again and again as events such as Hurricane Sandy, Hurricane Katrina, and the tragedy of 9/11 go on to forever change people’s lives. One of the best ways I’ve learned to cope with whatever is on my plate is by writing. By writing about your thoughts, feelings, opinions, or actual details surrounding an event, the act of writing can go a long way towards helping to release the lingering effects of trauma and is also an excellent way to help you get more in touch with yourself.
