Vintage Rhodia

Stephanie

I wonder when this image was taken. 1940’s maybe? I’m specifically eyeballing the cahiers on the right – the ones that look like composition books. Seeing the rounded corners on each of the products above makes me so happy – rounded corners are kinder on the palm of your hand when you reach the bottom of the page.

See anything you like? If there were enough interest, maybe we could convince Rhodia in France to reproduce one of their vintage designs…

  1. Thanks Colin, I’ve read a bunch on Jung and his use of the mandala. Without prior knowledge of his work, I’ve pretty much used it for the same reasons he did – to monitor one’s daily mindset.

  3. I guess France had other matters in mind during the 1940’s, so my guess is that it was either before 1939 or, more probably, after 1950. For those of us living in Europe, the austerity and shortages of World War 2 lasted well into the ’50s.
Maybe Rhodia created cahiers for French schools and this was a display aimed at teachers?
Thanks for a still great RhodiaDrive
By the way … BBC-TV featured a clip about mandalas and the way that Carl Jung employed them to assist he reseraches into psychotherapy. Thought you’d like to know!
