Blogroll Housekeeping: Your Input?

Stephanie

A short while back, I asked our readers for suggestions for relevant links to add to our blogroll. Before adding the new, I performed a bit of housekeeping on the blogroll because it is important to us that you are provided with quality content. A few links needed to be updated, and some removed as they had become non-existent or no longer publishing new content. I then reviewed each of your submissions and added a number of your suggestions and also two or three that I thought you might find interesting. (Such as: “The Well Appointed Desk.”)

When visiting the home page of Rhodia Drive, you fill find our “Blogroll” down the right hand side of the page and beneath that, additional links categorized into such sections such as “Art Journaling” and “Retailer Blogs.” I would prefer to categorize all of the links, but with some it’s difficult – even my own personal blog isn’t dedicated to just one thing.

My first question to you: Do you regularly visit the blogs on our blogroll?

And second, would it matter to you if they were in one long list or would you prefer to see them all categorized? As always, we appreciate your input.

  1. Thanks for the update.
I really miss Pretense of Knowledge, the former Amateur Economist. Nice to bump into watches and architecture next to coverage of pens, ink, and paper.

  3. Yes, I DO visit sites on your ‘blog roll’, maybe once in two weeks or if seeking inspiration.
Happy with your current presentation however, if you look at the way Jackie does it over on her Letters and Journals blog, you’ll see that each referred blog has a date when last updated. This avoids the risk of wasting time looking at old stuff. But then I am old stuff myself anyway … so what the !!!!. I really MUST get my own blog up and running.
    Thanks for yours.

  5. I personally would love to see them categorised; I find it a bit hard to navigate such an extensive list, and I like the part under the blogroll where you can get a sense of what the blog is about rather than blindly clicking. :)

  7. I am not sure how to best organize the blogroll. Economy Pens is currently under Paper/Pen/Ink Forums, but I don’t know how that differs from the Paper/Pen/Ink Blogs. I am just happy to be apart of of the blogroll, either way. :)

I am curious to see other suggestions on how to best categorize the selection.

  9. Stephanie, if it helps any, I’ve seen some traffic coming off of Rhodia Drive since you so kindly included my blog in your blogroll. (And thank you for including me!) It’s not the majority of my traffic by any means, but it’s a nice addition to volume. Based on that, I’d say people indeed explore the blogroll. Feel free to contact me privately if you want more info like numbers, etc.

So many sites are hard to categorize that I’m not sure how you’d go about it. Should some blogs be in multiple categories? Would people miss out on something good by skipping a category? Hard to know…

Hope this helps a little bit at least!
