How Frank Found Rhodia

Stephanie

On a recent blog post, I asked people how they initially became aware of Rhodia products. Frank Bettendorf wrote to tell us of his first experience with the little orange pad:

“I came upon Rhodia when I was searching for a good resource for my sketching. I’d tried other brands but found their paper wanting especially for pen and ink drawing where I did several layers of cross-hatching. By accident, and I say purely by accident, I was in a stationary store looking for a card to send and found the brillant orange small pads in the aisle. The store owner placed a pen and a demonstration lined pad to allow shoppers to try the pads. Well I was impressed and bought one which I promptly filled with sketches, including several versions of a Starbucks paper coffee cup with lots of hatching. I believe that Rhodia found me not the other way around.”

Do you have a story you would like to share about your first Rhodia? We’d love to hear!

  1. I found Rhodia via the now infrequently updated blog Notebookism. Armand pursuaded me to go looking for a Rhodia pad on the (badly underserved) UK high street. Luckily, I found a couple of the Orange pads thrown to the back of the shelf in a Paperchase shop. They were a big dog-eared but I bought them both and have never looked back.

  3. I found Rhodia pads when I was trying out my first pen in the pen shop. The lovely saleswoman gently laid down a No 16 after handing me the soon-to-be mine Safari and as she explained a bit about the pen I commented on the paper. She said why yes it is excellent and we do sell the pads. I graebbed a No 16 spiral bound and I have been hooked since.
