2010 has been my year to be a roaming gypsy. Last week I was in Virginia visiting with friends – my 1st real trip to VA where I was able to see much of its beauty. Endless mountains, undulating hills with bright green grass, (In November!) there was much to see and much to love. I unfortunately (often) have difficulties my first night sleeping away from home and it took me 3 nights to get a full night’s rest, only to then travel to a different friend’s house and get no sleep at all the night before I was to drive back to PA. (4 hours) I did my best to keep myself alert (read “caffeinated”) and it seems as though everything happens for a reason. For though I may have suffered without sleep, the day I drove back I was blessed not just with the double rainbow above, but also with my closest ever sighting of a bald eagle. (Ive really only ever seen then once before – last year a pair flew right over my neighbor’s house.) On Rt 42 in VA, I was driving to pick up rt 81 and I see a large bird, white head, flying at my car. “NO WAY!!!!!” I slow down and crane my head to look up through my windshield as it flew over only a few feet above my car. So close I could see the light orange tint under it’s tail feathers… The majestic beauty of that bird was enough to keep me smiling all the way home and let me tell you – I slept great that night!
