How much space do you need?

Stephanie

If you use a lined journal, how important is the width of the line spacing to you? Do you prefer it to be a certain size?  Before I gave up lines for the blank page, I wanted my lines to be about 5mm apart. Less than that and I’d write big anyway, obscuring the lines & making a mess of things. Larger than 5mm and I felt lost and like I was wasting paper.

  1. Before discovering Rhodia products, I was an avid Clairefontaine user. So I quickly adapted to the rather large space between lines that you find in most Clairefontaine notebooks and frankly, it’s been a bit of a struggle to get my medium-to-large handwriting to fit inbetween the 7mm lines of a Webbie. I think 8-9mm is just the right size for me, but given some (more) practice I’m sure I’ll get used to 7mm and perhaps even 6mm.

  3. For me 8mm is perfect. Anything smaller than 6mm and I’ll skip lines. I tend to use the finest points available and still need the whole 8mm. I don’t think of my handwriting as particularly big, but maybe it is.
