Looking through my Fountain Pen Friend Lisa’s photostream on Flickr, I came upon a series of images from a meeting of the members of the San Fransisco Bay area Pen Posse. A pen meet up group you say? No way! How ultra cool. To this day, I’ve yet to meet anyone else (in person) that is a current fountain pen user. (Though I haven’t yet been to a pen show.) I’m under the impression that people go to these meetings to discuss all things related to fountain pens. The image above specifically caught my eye because it consists of ink samples from various manufacturers. Since many people lack a local pen shop in their neighborhood and often have to make their purchases online, it can be difficult to judge an ink via a computer monitor. Being able to sit down and see handwritten samples or better yet, to have people bring inks along to test… brilliant! After talking to Karen Doherty, (VP of Marketing at Exaclair) about the pen groups, she agreed that we could provide J. Herbin/Rhodia samples for people to try at gatherings like this one.
If you are an organizer for a group like this, please e-mail me at stephanie at rhodiadrive dot com with the name of your location (city/state) in the subject line, and then tell me a little bit about your group- how often you meet, and how many people usually attend.
